Was there Sabotage on Phobos-Grunt?
The Russian space agency space suggested that failures may be due to sabotage by human intelligence, although not directly on any suspects.
Vladimir Popovkin, head of Russian space agency, Roscosmos, it sets aside the assumption that the past failures of Russia in aerospace have been due to "external causes". These statements have been made to the Russian newspaper Izvestia.
"We would not want to blame anyone, but nowadays there are very effective means of reaching targets in space, and do not rule out that these means are being used," said Popovkin.
The director of Roscosmos recalls that have yet to clarify the causes of the failure of the Russian interplanetary station Phobos-Grunt who was in orbit, rather than have gone to Mars in November. "We do not know the exact causes of the frequent failures of our products when they fly over part of the Earth that is the shade to Russia, where we do not see the device and can not receive data from it," the same charge to the Russian newspaper suprarreferido.
Earlier, Nikolai Rodionov, former commander in chief of the Prevention System missile attack from Russia, declared that American radar would be able to cause the failure of the Phobos-Grunt.

It is high time that Russia collaborates with India on such space missions. Will save cost and time for both. Chances of such types of failures will hopefully come down.
ReplyDeleteSo maybe Roscosmos should pay someone to track and download data in the "shaded areas" ?
ReplyDeleteI know that Ariane Space and some US firms contract Denel in South Africa for that service.
